Common problems and solutions of ultrasonic transducers

Ultrasonic transducer is an important component of Apsonic ultrasonic welding machine. Here we will introduce the principle of ultrasonic welding machine. Ultrasonic welding machine converts ultrasonic electric box into high-frequency and high-voltage signals through AC power (190-240V). These signals are then converted into high-frequency mechanical vibrations through ultrasonic transducers, which act on plastic products to form high-temperature friction on the contact surfaces of the two plastic products. When the temperature reaches the melting point, the two melt rapidly and cool and shape under a certain pressure to form a welding effect.

①The ultrasonic transducer is not welded firmly

The main reason is poor capacitor matching, which will cause the transducer to be loosely welded, and even the ultrasonic transducer to heat up severely. The high temperature generated will burn out the electrode sheets and the high-power tubes of the power supply.

Solution: Replace the device capacitor in time to make the capacitance match.

②The ultrasonic transducer electrode is cracked or burned out

The temperature of the ultrasonic transducer will rise during long-term operation, and the temperature of the capacitor will also rise, causing a large current and voltage phase difference in the circuit, low power factor, and high reactive work, which will lead to the first problem mentioned above. The electrode will vibrate and crack, burn out, and the power devices of the power supply will also heat up and be damaged.

Solution: Stop using the ultrasonic welding machine and wait for the equipment temperature to drop and cool down.

③The ultrasonic transducer makes strange noises, is overloaded, leaks waves, or has chip misalignment.

There are roughly four reasons for the above problems.

1. There is a problem with the ultrasonic transducer;

Solution: Replace the ultrasonic transducer in time.

2. There is a problem with the ultrasonic amplifier;

Solution: Replace the ultrasonic amplifier in time.

3. There are assembly problems between the ultrasonic electric box and the ultrasonic mold welding head;

4. The capacitance and frequency of the ultrasonic welding machine do not match;

If the capacitance and frequency are not well matched, it will cause equipment overload, chip cracking, breakage, screw disconnection, aluminum cracking or burning of ultrasonic generator power tubes.

Solution: The equipment needs to be reconfigured. The ultrasonic generator, ultrasonic transducer and ultrasonic mold welding head must be at the same frequency.
